Jim Kalinowski was born and raised in Cheektowaga, NY a suburb of Buffalo, NY. Jim graduated from Brockport State University with Bachelor’s degrees in both Criminal Justice and Political Science. Jim then migrated to Houston where he has retained residence since 1981, long enough to call Texas home. He earned a Master’s degree in Management from Sam Houston State University and has been serving clients since 1997 including several years as an independent financial advisor.
Jim is series 7 licensed in addition to series 6, 63 and 65 (which allows him to sell securities, bonds, mutual funds, equity traded funds, limited partnerships, as well as provide financial advice). Jim is also licensed to sell insurance for individual and group life, health, long-term health care including fixed and variable annuities.
Jim is also a certified peace officer with over 35 years of experience in law enforcement as well as a graduate of the FBI National Academy (176th) and the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas. He passionately believes that both financial and life planning will help you make a sound decision in preparing you to retire with a purpose. Jim is a volunteer coordinator of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace program at Stonebridge Church in the Woodlands, Texas. Jim also participates in mission trips with destiny sports missions via Score International to Juan Dalio, of the Dominican Republic to share the gospel through the sport of baseball and visiting orphanages.
Jim is a volunteer table member of Hope’s Path ministry that helps aged out foster brothers and sisters acquire life skills.
In Jim’s spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and family and coaching his son’s ice hockey teams for over 14 years. As a coach, he tries to teach life skills and values by developing a strong work ethic, teamwork, and discipline while having fun. He believes not only in developing athletic skills, but developing leadership skills alongside them in hopes that it will benefit them in their own careers. Jim plays hockey in an adult league, a competitive power lifter, and enjoys hiking, hunting and fishing.
Jim has conducted several financial and life planning classes and speaking engagements to hundreds of participants including the FBI National Academy Alumni and associations and organizations.
